Canyon High School Teacher of the Year
I know I have impacted my students’ lives when...they share the discoveries they've made about life, math, their family and themselves. There is never a day that goes by, that I don't feel that I've made some small impact in a student's life. For some it is seeing the beauty in math, for others it is realizing that high school is just the beginning and for some it is knowing that there are adults who truly care about them.
Academy of the Canyons Teacher of the Year
I know I have impacted my students’ lives when...their new-found skills build a lifetime love of learning. I love seeing a student use their knowledge and critical thinking skills to make a claim, then support that opinion with facts. This job is incredibly rewarding.
Sequoia Charter School Teacher of the Year
I know I have impacted my students’ lives when...middle school and high school students go out of their way to express gratitude in their respectively individual ways. "Thank you" notes, Professor Koegle Facebook posts on current science events, Science Club debates (on their own time), and the humbling sighs of disapproval as the bell rings indicating that class is over are just a few of the displays that evidence an impact.
Bowman High School Teacher of the Year
I know I have impacted my students’ lives when...they come back years later and tell me how something I said or did changed their lives forever in a positive way. There's nothing more wonderful.
Valencia High School Teacher of the Year
I know I have impacted my students’ lives when...I know I have impacted my students lives when their parents tell me that they love to come to school. I know they have been forever changed when they learn to communicate for the first time. I love to see their self-esteem is soaring when their peers give them a standing ovation in a rally after a dance performance.
Golden Valley High School Teacher of the Year
I know I have impacted my students’ lives when...when I see them recognize their own potential and value and truly commit to themselves and their future, which is a precious gift to themselves and others. My approach to them is summarized by this quote: "The greatest good you can do for another is not just share your own riches, but to reveal to him his own." --Benjamin Disraeli
Rio Norte Jr. High School Teacher of the Year
I know I have impacted my students’ lives when...in the middle of a group project, the words "this is fun" float above the din of the classroom and when the student visits years later they relive this joyful moment and explain how that project helped to understand the concept of the lesson.
Placerita Jr. High Teacher of the Year
I know I have impacted my students’ lives when…something changes for the student--a student who never read suddenly picks up a book, or a student who hated English now enjoys it. I know I've made an impact when something has sparked a student's curiosity or desire to learn.
Mint Canyon Community School Teacher of the Year
My professional motivation comes from…seeing my students grow on a daily basis; from reading letters to whole books, writing letters to paragraphs, and through hearing the amazing stories they like to share.
