The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce created its Education Committee in 1984 to develop partnerships between local business and the public schools. In order to focus solely on education and to be eligible for foundation grants and more corporate support, the Chamber and the Education Committee decided to form a foundation. In November 1995, the Chamber Education qualified as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable foundation and is now called the Santa Clarita Valley Education Foundation. In 2008 the Foundation hired its first Executive Director and added its newest program Read With Me
